Dear life, please slow down.

So, life has been busy, hectic, and extremely awesome lately. ^.^ Started my sophomore year of college and i'm loving it so much. It's like coming home again. Classes are going well and i'm involved with two shows: Ragtime (As New Rochelle Ensemble, Chorine/Sob Sister, Rallyer, and a Reporter and understudying Evelyn Nesbit) and Assassins (As Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme). Both music heavy shows. It's killing my voice, but i'm loving it so much.

Well....I guess that's really all for now. I didn't realize I'm running late for class. ^.^ Off to German!

I cannot express with words how much I LOVE pianofiles.com. It's like the holy grail for anyone looking for sheet music! I guess it's the music and theatre geek talking in me, but I love it! I just scored some...well, scores that i've been searching for for quite a while. I managed to get the full conductors scores to the shows 13, Assassins, Next to Normal, Billy Elliot, Elisabeth, and Songs for a new World. I am a very happy person right now. ^.^

You can't stop the Beat!

So, yeah. I got the call yesterday that I got cast in Hairspray the musical! WOOT WOOT! I"m ecstatic! I got asked to play in the ensemble as one of the Nicest Kids In Town and i'm understudying Amber von Tussel (sp?) and Penny Pingleton. I can't wait! dance and music rehearsals start next week and it's going to be ten or twelve hour days. UGH. It's going to kick my butt dancing and rehearsing that long after being away from a studio for so long. I"ve gotten so out of shape. Maybe I'll head to the studio later and put myself through a ballet class or two. That should help get the muscles working properly again. We'll see....

In other news, I just got finished with performing in a student-written and directed play called My Susan. I played Susan, the older sister of a mentally challenged girl. Their mother was a drug-addicted alcoholic who treated them like crud. After their mom dies the shit basically hits the fan and Ashley (the sister) gets taken away from Susan's care. It was a really hard play to get through emotionally. I had to find emotions that I wasn't used to feeling. I loved it, though. I felt like it challenged me to step out of my shell and become a better actress in the long run.

I'm starting back with lessons with my old voice teacher tomorrow. I can't wait. I've missed her so much. She's been away working on various jobs with the New York Metropolitan Opera. AHHH! I'm so jealous of her talent. Heh heh. She's a wonderful teacher, though, and I feel like she really pushes me to become the best I can be. It's going to be great to work with her again.

I'm attempting to figure out this whole 'make a video of me singing' thing so I can start posting crud on youtube, but i'm having a difficult time of it. I'm using Audacity to record the instrumentals first and them i'm recording a separate track of my singing and them mixing them together. The problems are...A) My mic is complete crap and I have no idea where to find a better one for a decent price. and B) I'm kind of technology illiterate. Lol. I can't figure out how to make a video of something to add the track to. ARGHHH!!!!! There must be a tutorial somehwere. I'll have to go hunting for one later.

I think that's about all the updates for now....Over and out!

Oh yes!!!! As I was typing my location I remembered! I'm totally in love with the show GLEE! HOMG!!!!! I'm also loving the fact that Lea Michelle from the obc of Spring Awakening is starring in it. Heh. I'm waiting for her to bust out with Mama Who Bore Me. LOLZ!

And I also got cast in Ragtime the musical at my university for the fall! I cant' wait. It's one of my favorite classics!

Now i'm done....I promise....

I want to profess my love...

for Febreeze air effects room spray. Lolz. I swear! It's the best stuff in the world. Dorm rooms have a habit of smelling really nasty even if you clean it and such, so my roommate and I invested in a can of the Apple Spice and Delight version of Febreeze air effects and we both absolutely love it. Try some! It's wonderful.

'nuff said.

Projects and more

So...we started our first day of recording today. FUN FUN FUN! We got through Legally Blonde, I'd Give It All For You, Mama Who Bore Me Reprise, and my friend's solo of No Good Deed. Everything sounds wonderful so far! Hopefully all of it will go as smoothly as it did today.

In other news, i'm working on making a few costumes. The first, and most time consuming, is a recreation of one of the ensemble dresses from Tanz der Vampire:

It should be a fun project. I have the pattern drawn out and all the materials bought (which cost a small fortune. Ugh. My pocket feels so much lighter). I'm guessing it should take me around two or three months to finish. The bodice will be easy. The skirt...not so much. And the distressing with take an eternity. But it will be worth it in the longrun.

In the mean time I have a work in progress:

A friend of mine asked me to make her a 50's inspired prom dress. ^.^ It's pretty much done except for a little bit of tweaking.

Screw it.

You know what? Just screw it. I'm giving up on paper writing tonight. I just don't have the attention span right now. *Curls up with her white grape juice, Scooby Doo PJs, and Josh Groban poster* Hokay...so...Book and film review time:

So...I just finished re-reading the Twilight Saga. Say it with me....DRAMA. I love the series, but dear God! How much angstier can you get? Lol. 'Nuff said.
I also just finished reading a book called Cut by Anonymous. AMAZING book. As someone who has dealed with depression and attempted suicide I could really relate to the raw emotions of the book. It touched me deeply and I highly reccommend it to anyone who has had to deal with tough situations before.
Okay, this isn't really a book exactly, but I just finished reading Laughing Wild by Christopher Durang and it is the funniest frickin' play I have ever read. If you like dry British humor pick up a copy today.
Same with Jean Paul Sartre's "No Exit". Except, it's more absurdist.

Twilight....UGH. Hated it. It was too different from the book and thoroughly disappointed me.

Eh...time to go to rehearsal for a couple hours and then sleep. Byez!

Mar. 6th, 2009

Spring break can't get here fast enough!!! I'm well aware that it starts tomorrow (technically), but It feels like I have so much to do before and during it. Today I have my three Friday classes (Acting, Research and Argumentative Writing, and Advanced Ballet) as well as having to go to a rehearsal for a student-directed show i'm in from 10 to 11:45 p.m., turn in a 8-page paper, in-depth analysis over a play I had to read for acting called Metamorphosis, pack to go home, clean and cover everything left in the room so the dorm people can do bug fogging. And all of this has to be done by 10 a.m. tomorrow. UGH!!! And over spring break I have to study for midterm exams because they start the day we come back. Fan-frickin-tastic....not.

On the brightside, though, i'm getting together with some friends of mine from a performing group called Showstoppers and we're going to get into a friend's recording studio at his college and do a bit of musical theatre recording. WOOT! Should be fun. I'm doing a bunch of songs in that so i've been working on those. My boyfriend and I are doing the duets Legally Blonde (Legally Blonde the Musical), I'd Give It All For You (Songs for A New World), A Whole New World (Aladdin), As Long As You're Mine (Wicked), Nie Geseh'n (Tanz der Vampire), Draussen Ist Freiheit (Tanz der Vampire), Totale Finsternis (Tanz der Vampire), A Little Fall of Rain (Les Miserables),  Vous Dites (Autant en Emporte le Vent), I Am Unworthy of Your Love (Assassins), Follow Your Heart (Urinetown), The Word of Your Body (Spring Awakening), A Little Priest (Sweeney Todd), My Friends (Sweeney Todd), and Without You (Rent). Basically he and I are the duet people. Lol. We harmonize well together. Besides all that I'm doing solo parts in I'm Not Afraid (Songs for A New World), Glitter And Be Gay (Candide), I Want More (Lestat),  Green Finch and Linnet Bird (Sweeney Todd), So Much Better (Legally Blonde the Musical), Diva's Lament (Spamalot), Mamma Who Bore Me (Spring Awakening), Someone Else's Story (Chess), I Have A Dream (Mamma Mia), Thank You For The Music (Mamma Mia), On My Own (Les Miserables), and I Speak Six Languages (25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee). I'm also singing in the group numbers Mamma Who Bore Me Reprise (Spring Awakening), Song of Purple Summer (Spring Awakening), Gimme Gimme Gimme A Man After Midnight (Mamma Mia),  Der Tanz der Vampire (Tanz der Vampire), Ewigkeit (Tanz der Vampire), Do You Hear the People Sing (Les Miserables), Lovely Ladies (Les Miserables), and You're the One That I Want (Grease). So...LOTS of stuff to learn. Lol. The good thing is that i've already sung and know most of these pieces. It's just a matter of refreshing my memory.

Well....that's about it for now, I guess. BYE!

P.S.-I might see if I can weasle Richard (my firend who's heading up this whole recording extravaganza) into letting me post some of the finished products on here. No promises, but maybe!!! ^.^

First post/ rant

First post to livejournal. Heh heh. I said i'd never do it, but here I am. (Of course I said the same thing about myspace and facebook...and i've become an addict to them.) Well, what to say....Maybe i'll give a little info on myself. Let's see....I'm a college freshman (soon to be sophomore) and double majoring in musical theatre performance and english literature with a vocal performance minor. (yes...i'm trying to kill myself with an insane workload.) I've been involved in theatre, dance, and singing for about ten years. I was a cheerleader and competitive gymnast for eight years (the worst years of my life). Some of the shows i've done regionally include: Oklahoma (Ado Annie/ Dream Laurie), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Ensemble Dancer and dance captain/ US Nararator), CATS (Jemima the first time I did it and Demeter the second time), Kopit and Yeston's Phantom (Ensemble/ Christine US), Beauty and the Beast (Babbette/ US Belle), Guys and Dolls (Sarah), The Mikado (Ensemble/ US Peep Bo), Pirates of Penzance (Ensemble), Oliver (Mrs. Sowerberry/ Rose Seller), Carousel (Louise), Disney's High School Musical (Wildcat Cheerleader the first year, Taylor McKenzie/ Gabriella US the second year), Peter Pan (Tiger Lilly), Les Miserables (Eponine), White Christmas (Ensemble singer/dancer), A Chorus Line (Maggie/ Val US), ....and many others. I've trained extensively in ballet, latin jazz, fosse, hip hop, tap, lyrical, modern, contemporary, pas de duex, pointe, ballroom, and african dance.

Um....what else to say. When i'm not working or going to school I enjoy hanging out with my friends, wasting my time on facebook, reading, writing, writing songs, singing and dancing crazily to random musicals when i'm alone, horseback riding, mountain climbing, caving, teaching little kids acting/dance/music classes....and so much else....I just can't remember it all right now. LOL. ^.^

Personality-wise i'm a very quiet and stay-to-myself type of person until you get to know me....then watch out. Lol. I'm a bundle of firecrackers: outgoing, friendly, loyal to the end, energetic, and bubbly.

On to my rant...I HATE RUDE PEOPLE!!!!
Seriously! How hard is it to keep your music and yelling down to a reasonable level, your underwear and dirty laundry out of the showers and sinks, and to clean up after yourselves? Gosh. We're not in kindergarten anymore, people. Grow-freakin-up. The girls in my hall in the dorm are so rude. I don't think their parents taught them manners, or if they did they've discarded them. They are the most rude and dirty girls I have ever encountered. I swear...if I find ONE MORE person's weave clotted up in the sink or trash and laundry strewn about or hear one more drunken party/orgy next door I will rip my hair out.... or go all crazy white girl on them...which ever comes first.

Enough rant and about me. ^.^ Nighty night all.
